Facebook: Modern Technology at its Greatest
Ever since its rise to fame among the general public, the internet has been a morphing and evolving method of conveying information. In the Internet’s original form webpages simply existed to provide information written by one person, with no method of direct feedback and comments. There were few limits on what you could accomplish with a webpage and many years to learn even basic coding, aside from the technical limitations of technology at the time.
With the rise of faster Internet connections and computer systems a new breed of websites emerged. These social networking websites made it easier to directly interact with users by exchanging information, pictures, videos and other kind of files. They also got rid of the need to know a web coding language to create a basic website. Facebook was one of the few networks that tool really off in the last years catering to a broad worldwide audience.
Facebook is a social networking site that allows you to make a profile, and others to search for you. They’re then able to request to be your ‘friend’ – if you accept this request, you’ll be able to see messages, pictures, links, and a variety of other posts easily. It allows you to keep up with friends that you otherwise could lose touch with, in a simple and convenient way.
Security and privacy options have been added to Facebook over time to provide users with better security and privacy on the website. It is for instance possible to hide an account so that it cannot be found by other Facebook users. The remaining functionality on the other hand would still be accessible including the ability to search for and add friends to that account.
It is very easy to post new messages and upload photos and videos to Facebook. Many Facebook users on the other hand enjoy the various games that are provided for them for free. Many of these games make use of social features like sharing high-scores or battling with friends or foes directly on the page. Friends can be invited to games and you can send them messages to brag that you have beaten their highscore. Games range from simple games like Tetris or Scrabble to time consuming ones like Mafia Wars.
Facebook also has many quizzes that you can take, about a variety of subjects ranging from ‘Which of the Seven Dwarfs are You?’ to ‘What Political Party most Suits You?’. The quizzes are made by the users, so there’s almost an infinite variety to choose from! As with the games, you can send your results to all of your friends if you so choose. You could even invite them to take the quiz, and compare your results with all of your friends.
Facebook originated as mainly a social networking site for college students, allowing them to keep in contact with each other and those they left behind as they moved to different areas for college. However, it soon blossomed so that nearly every age demographic uses it – from teenagers to grandparents. It’s still an endlessly useful tool for college students, making moving away from your family less painful as you can still easily keep in contact.
Overall, Facebook allows you to safely keep in contact with friends, relatives, children, and anyone that you would wish to talk to. You can share pictures with your friends, play games against them, or do a vast variety of other fun activities. It’s what all social networks should be – easy to use, secure, and best of all, fun!
